As a core component of polyether polyol, PPG-600 directly participates in the polymerization reaction with isocyanates (such as MDI, TDI) according to the formula ratio to synthesize polyurethane prepolymers and elastomers. Before use, the product should be preheated to room temperature (viscosity increase or solidification may occur after low-temperature storage), stirred evenly, and then added by measuring according to the prepolymer formula. It is recommended to operate under nitrogen protection or in a dry environment to avoid moisture interfering with the isocyanate reaction. The recommended addition amount is usually 20% to 60% of the total prepolymer formula (adjusted based on target hardness and flexibility).
Utilizing the low surface tension (approximately 33 mN/m) and good dispersibility of PPG-600, it can be used as a base component or active ingredient of industrial defoamers. When in use, it is directly added to the medium requiring defoaming, or pre-compounded with dispersants and emulsifiers to form a defoamer emulsion before addition. It is suitable for systems such as fermentation, papermaking, and coatings. The recommended addition amount is 0.01% to 0.5% of the total system amount, which needs to be optimized through experiments based on the extent of foam and process conditions.
As an active component of the release agent, PPG-600 can be mixed with solvents (such as water or organic solvents) and emulsifiers in proportion to prepare a release solution, which is then sprayed or brushed onto the mold surface to form a uniform isolation film. The recommended mass proportion of PPG-600 in the formulation is 5% to 30% (in the final release solution), and the specific concentration depends on the mold material and release difficulty.
When used as synthetic lubricating base oil or additive, it is directly added to the base oil according to the formula ratio and stirred evenly. In water-glycol fire-resistant hydraulic fluids, it serves as a thickening and lubricating component, usually used in combination with other functional additives. The recommended addition amount in metalworking fluids (cutting fluids, quenchants) is 5% to 20% of the total concentrate amount, significantly enhancing lubrication and cooling performance.
In cosmetics, as a humectant or solvent, the recommended dosage is 1% to 10% of the total formula amount. It can be added to the water phase or oil phase and stirred evenly. In pharmaceutical ointment/suppository bases, it is usually used as one of the main components of water-soluble bases, with the amount determined according to the specific formulation. When used as an intermediate for nonionic surfactants, further chemical modification through etherification or esterification reactions is required, and PPG-600 is charged as a reaction starting material according to the stoichiometric ratio.
