The chemical main component of Stearic Acid Polyoxyethylene Ether SG-10 (CAS No.: 9004-99-3) is polyoxyethylene (10) stearate, with the molecular formula C18H35O2(OCH2CH2)nOH (n≈10) and an average molecular weight of about 725. Its molecular structure consists of two parts: the lipophilic end is a long-chain stearic acid (C18 saturated fatty acid) ester group, and the hydrophilic end is a polyoxyethylene segment with an average of 10 ethylene oxide units. This structure gives the product excellent hydrophilic-lipophilic balance ability, making it a typical nonionic surfactant.
From the perspective of composition purity, the SG-10 produced by Guoli Chemical has an effective active substance content ≥99%, with monoester content ≥95%, diester content ≤5%, and free alcohol (i.e., unreacted polyethylene glycol) content ≤1%. The product appearance is a light yellow paste to white slightly yellowish solid, with a melting point of about 35–40°C. It contains almost no free phosphoric acid, amine substances, or bound phosphorus. The heavy metal content (as Pb) is ≤10 mg/kg, and arsenic content ≤2 mg/kg, resulting in overall pure composition and extremely low impurities.

SG-10 has an HLB value of 13.5 and strong hydrophilicity, making it especially suitable as the primary emulsifier for O/W (oil-in-water) emulsion systems. In cosmetic creams and lotions, the recommended dosage is generally 1%–5% of the total formula. In textile printing and dyeing, when used as a softener and leveling agent, the recommended working solution concentration is 0.5–3 g/L. In pesticide emulsifiable concentrate formulations, the recommended dosage as an emulsifier component is 5%–15%.
Because the monoester content of this product is as high as over 95%, it has excellent emulsification efficiency, forming emulsions with uniform particle size and good stability. Additionally, its low free alcohol content (≤1%) effectively avoids problems such as stickiness, excessive foaming, or pH sensitivity caused by high levels of free polyethylene glycol, making it more suitable for developing high-quality formulations.
