Guoli Chemical's Polyoxyethylene Stearate SG-10 appears as a white to slightly yellow solid or paste at room temperature (melting point 35-40°C). Direct feeding and dissolution are difficult. The correct procedure is: Take the required amount, heat in a water bath or jacketed vessel to 40-50°C until completely melted into a flowable liquid, then slowly add to the water phase or oil phase with stirring. This product is readily soluble in water, ethanol, and acetone. Use 40-50°C warm water to accelerate dissolution, stirring until a uniform, transparent solution is formed. If used in a cold-process system, it is recommended to first disperse completely with a small amount of hot water, then add cold water to adjust the temperature, avoiding direct addition to cold water, which may cause the paste to coagulate and disperse unevenly.
Cosmetic creams/lotions: As an O/W emulsifier, melt SG-10 at about 45°C and add it to the oil phase, while heating the water phase to a similar temperature. Under high-speed homogenization stirring, slowly add the oil phase to the water phase, homogenize for 3-5 minutes, then cool. The recommended dosage is 2%-5%, and the effect is better when combined with a co-emulsifier of lower HLB value.
Textile printing and dyeing auxiliaries: When used as a leveling agent, the recommended dosage is 0.5-2 g/L (liquor ratio 1:10-1:20), applied in a dye bath at 40-60°C. As a softener or antistatic agent, the recommended working concentration is 2-8 g/L. It can be used alone or compounded with cationic softeners. Use the pad method at 40-50°C for 20-30 minutes, then dry.
Industrial detergents/household liquid detergents: As a co-emulsifier and detergency-enhancing component, it is recommended to add 1%-3% in the formula, compounded with other anionic or nonionic surfactants, which can significantly improve the emulsifying and removal ability of oily soils.
Metalworking fluids: When preparing emulsifiable cutting fluids, SG-10 serves as one of the primary emulsifiers, with a recommended dosage of 5%-15%. Mix SG-10 with base oil and heat to 50-60°C, stir evenly, then slowly add an equal-temperature water phase while stirring to form a stable, translucent to milky white working fluid.
Pesticide emulsifiable concentrate formulations: As an emulsifier component, the recommended dosage is 5%-10%, compounded with anionic emulsifiers (such as calcium salts) to ensure the stability of the diluted emulsion.
Emulsion polymerization: Used in acrylate or styrene-acrylate emulsion polymerization systems, the recommended dosage is 1.5%-3% based on total monomer weight. Dissolve SG-10 in water during the pre-emulsification stage, add monomers with stirring to pre-emulsify, then carry out the polymerization reaction according to the conventional process.
Coating/leather auxiliaries: As a pigment dispersant or fatliquor emulsifier component, the recommended dosage is 0.5%-2% of the total formula. Disperse completely in warm water first, then add to the system.
